Okay, I am doing a drive-by post because I heard this on the radio on the way to work this morning and it made me so, so sad. 

Suicide of a Rutgers University freshman linked to an online broadcast of his sexual encounter with another man

IDEK WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THIS. I HAVE NO WORDS.

I don't know what the consequence will be for these students (from the article it says that the most severe crime carries a max sentence of 5 years) but I don't think it *counts* as a hate crime although I think it counts as one, imo.

i basically grew up in the gay&lesbian scene (got a second mommy when i was 10 *g*).

heard some horrible stories this reminds me a lot of some of them... people can be so incredibly cruel. :´(

Sadly, people abuse and treat each other terribly for their own amusement far too often.

Having grown up with a lot of friends who have two moms or dads, and being from a non-traditional family myself, I know that some people just don't understand what is "different". I think one of the reactions can be to make a joke out of it.

what i could never understand was why there was so much hate and intolerance within the group of gay&lesbians too.
dykes saying the more feminine lesbians can not be real lesbians.
macho gays bashing gays that behave like those stereotypical tv&movie gays.
pretty much everyone hating transgenders either because now they are the enemy (hetero) or because they are not real a man/woman and therefore can not be real lesbians/gays...

What disgusts me even more than this information (which is just too horrible for words) is the comments I'm reading about it. I hate this planet sometimes, I really do. I'm often ashamed to call myself human.

This has not been a good week for the GLBT community. A 13-year-old boy in my city committed suicide this week due to being bullied because he was gay. :(
