And yes, Merlin would look excellent in a dressage outfit! Not difficult to picture at all. He also fit the sport very well.
Sadly, Arthur had to lose...but he gets a nice consolation prize :)
The Lippizaner stallions undergo dressage training, although the acrobatic components (or "Airs") of their performances are unique to the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. I'd love to see them someday! Classical dressage training began to take shape in the 16th century, but is based on writings of ancient Greeks.
Oh, I am such a horse geek. I pay way too much attention to the horses on the show, too :P
