In which A is strange, random and oh yeah BACK FROM THE VOID

1) Computer fixed over a week ago, but still a little absent around here because...

2) I was in the hospital for a week. Infection. Other issues. Was able to read LJ and comment some but didn't get full computer access until Friday.  I remembered how utterly boring hospital stays are. Thankfully, I had recently downloaded a ton of podfic, which seriously SAVED MY SANITY. I feel like I need to write a "Thank you" letter to all those lovely podficcers and possibly buy them presents. Or something.

I also wrote Merlin/Arthur fic in a little notebook, which may or may not be typed up and posted. It's all angsty and probably addled. SPEAKING OF ADDLED...

3) I am so behind with LJ and other online stuff and I'm just beginning to get caught up. SO I ASK YOU, flist, WHAT IS THE 411? WHAT ARE THE COOL JAMS?

Then again, it's only been a week...but it was a terribly long one over here.

4) In my addled state, I pre-ordered Merlin Season 1 on DVD from Amazon, WHICH IS COOL AND ALL, but it's not coming out until April 26th and I wasn't going to buy it until next month. I was supposed to spend my March self-allocated ~$30 "monthly extras" budget on a paid LJ account (I KNOW, I'M LAME AND BEHIND THE TIMES) but in some kind of excited haze I forgot. It's probably because....

5) I saw the little "Merlin Season Premiere" corner thingy pop up on the SyFy channel and got a little too excited. I think I pointed at the screen and said "OMG look" which probably looked silly and frankly was silly because it's not like I didn't know it was coming. Maybe it was just my response to seeing Colin Morgan's face on my television screen...I've only ever seen it on a laptop. I'm looking forward to the marathon next Sunday.

Speaking of things to do on a Sunday...

7) Today my friend and I took a little trip to an abandoned state mental hospital to walk around and take some photos. We're kind of UrbEx addicts and while this wasn't exactly that it was a nice trip nonetheless. I love abandoned places/things and while today wasn't great for photos (too sunny!) it was beautiful to walk around. I don't know if any of you are interested in that kind of thing (and my digital camera is a little crappy) but here are are a few of the photos if you'd like to see them:

8) I came back to my LJ to feeling the need for new icons. I need to go clicking around for more, but definitely have things I need to be doing instead. I could keep them but having 15 at a time means I need to refresh my stock instead of adding to it. IDK why I am mentioning this. ANYONE OUT THERE MAKE ICONS??? POINT ME TO YOUR CREATIONS!!

9) FLIST I MISSED YOU!!

The longest I've listened to is We're a Storm in Someone Else's Teacup which is 11 hours long - that just blows my mind XD. If you like FayJay though I really recommend 'Defenders of the Realm' and 'Crown of the Summer Court'! As in, I CANNOT RECOMMEND THEM ENOUGH.

uhm... hi ;)

glad you're feeling better (ogod, hospital stays suck..)

cool jams uhm.... first RPF bit of shame got posted ;) and I might have gone a little crazier than usual over my presentation on friday. that is all. xD

Good to see you back! And glad you're okay.

I can't think of anything you missed but my memory is that of a concussed goldfish.

And interesting pictures. Abandoned buildings look so creepy.

The TNG reruns are a good way to spend a Monday night. It takes me back to the days when I watched it daily during primetime hours :)

I will probably put my mind to typing up the fic. It's a little weird because I challenged myself to write canon and keep it in line with the ep's...which turned into a kind of post-2.13 angsting-Merlin thingy. Oh well..we'll see how it translates from book to laptop

[identity profile] blameitonmerlin.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you *hugs back*

Transcribing the fic from notes to laptop will probably happen once I get caught up with everything. Although I'm a little shy at posting angsty-type stuff...clearly I just need to get over myself :)

Hello there! Hospital stays do suck....as does being sick in general. It throws a wrench into the whole works.

I saw your RPF pop up and I am totally going to read it today :) but only if I've been a good beta and finished looking at your crossover. I'm not usually this late about things, really!

Well, better to go crazy in a presentation than being less than enthusiastic?

[identity profile] blameitonmerlin.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Hello and thank you.

A concussed goldfish you say? I recently have stated that sometimes I have the attention span of a flea on speed. We'd make a good team :)

Abandoned buildings are creepy but fun to explore. I have a strange fascination with the things people leave behind (like the junk pile behind the hospital which was full of everything from old wheelchairs to 50's-style refrigerators)

So sorry you've been ill! Hope you're feeling better now *hugs*

Those photos are really interesting. Places like that are so fascinating and haunting. I absolutely love looking round deserted buildings and wondering what they were like years ago.

I see you have already been caught up with BRADLEY KISSING A GIRL, but I approve of your Mean Girls reference :D

Alas, I'm never home on Monday nights. But there's a TNG marathon going on right now. So I guess that'll do me for a while.

Canon writing can be harder and more restrictive. But I like it because I don't have to make so much stuff up and more of figuring out why things happen the way they do.

I hope you're feeling much better now! *hugs*

Colin Morgan's face on the TV screen is SO MUCH better than when it's on a tiny laptop screen, ngl. :D

Cool on the pictures. I used to belong to an Urban Archaeology group but haven't been in many years.

Merlin! Yes, this month. I've missed most of the ads but that's okay. I suppose you heard about SyFy!fail with regards to Gwen's description. I believe they've fixed it.

As for Bradley's jumper, oh, my. It was like a Bridget Jones moment.

As for what you've missed, merlinxarthur is having weekly discussions which have been great. merlin_love started up and they've had 2 parties so far and a rec list on Wed.

I've done a bunch of Merlin location icons that are in the listing for merlin_locations but I don't have a master post since I don't tend to do a lot.

Thank you!

I love taking photos in and around deserted places. I too wonder about what they used to be like, who used to go there, etc.

:D for some reason I can find a Mean Girls quote for everything

[identity profile] blameitonmerlin.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I am, thank you!

I'm excited for Sunday's marathon...it's like Merlin on the "big screen" :)

[identity profile] blameitonmerlin.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I'm not a very good photographer but I enjoy going to the places and try to take a few respectable shots.

I just heard about the SyFy character-description debacle. I headed over to the website to read the descriptions and it appears that Gwen's is "fixed" in that there are no more comments on her looks, but the bios for all them are still a little weird I think.

Thanks for the update and for the links to your icons! I am a map fiend so I particularly like those diagrams of Raglan Castle. Very cool!

[identity profile] archaeologist-d.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
When I go places, I always try to get a picture of the maps!

Hey there! I see you around Merlin comms and friends I frequent! Friends?

[identity profile] blameitonmerlin.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure thing! I'm not very exciting but I'll be happy to see more of you around :)
